The Memorial
Mission
The governing body of the Veterans Memorial Building in Lafayette is the Lafayette War Veterans, Inc., a non-profit veterans organization incorporated in 1958. It exists to operate and maintain a living memorial to all those veterans who served, and are serving, honorably, and to remember the valor and sacrifice of those that gave us all of their tomorrows.
Since 1925 a Veterans Memorial Building has served central Contra Costa County in memory and honor of our American war dead. This new building provides an emotional and historical sanctuary for former, current, and future Comrades in Arms as well as a social venue for occasions of ceremony and camaraderie.
The business component of the building provides a location for the business meetings of each Veterans Service Organization as well as an opportunity to make the building space available to the general public for a wide variety of non-veteran events.
